Communication in Peru

Postal service

During last years the Peruvian postal service has improved quite a bit. It can however be more expensive than sending mail from more developed countries, certainly sending packages can be really expensive. Sending mail to the US and Europe will take at least a week and in some cases more than two. In most cities post offices are opened from 9 am to 8 pm.

Telephone

Peru's international code is 51. In cities, public (also cellular) pay phones are to be found all around, pay phones to be paid with money or telephone card which can be bought in kiosks and stores. To call international it is best to go to one of the many phone cells inside the stores.
