Next time you plan a visit to Peru, set aside a full day for the 7 Lakes Tour. This trip, known locally as the 7 Lagunas, is an incredible experience. You will venture into the Vilcanota mountain range. It’s home to the Ausangate mountain, a sight to behold. 

This Ausangate full day tour will take you on a trek to seven high-altitude lakes. Each one unique, each one beautiful. Azul Cocha is one such lake, with its bright blue waters. The others will leave you in awe too.

You will see snow-capped mountains surrounding the lakes. The view of the Ausangate mountain, in particular, is breathtaking.

Itinerary

Full Day7 Lakes Tour Cusco

Our 7 Lakes or 7 Lagunas full day tour will begin at 5:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel. Then, we will drive 105 kilometers (about 65 miles) southeast of Cusco. This drive will take about three hours.

By 8:00 a.m., we will arrive at the base of Ausangate Mountain. There, you will receive a quick briefing from your tour guide. You will learn about altitude sickness and how to prevent it.

At around 8:30 a.m., we will start our hike towards the 7 lakes. You will traverse rolling hills and flat terrain. The total distance for the hike is approximately 15 kilometers (9.3 miles).

By 11:00 a.m., you will reach the first lake, Azul Cocha. It will be a stunning sight with its bright blue waters. You will continue the trek, discovering each of the seven lakes along the way.

Lunch will be ready for you at 1:00 p.m. You will enjoy a picnic with the snow-capped Ausangate Mountain in the backdrop.

We will start our return hike around 2:00 p.m. By 4:30 p.m., you will arrive at Pacchanta. There, you can relax in the hot springs.

By 6:00 p.m., we will start our drive back to Cusco. You will return to your hotel by 9:00 p.m.
